Polar Vortex Returns This Week, But Fairfield Should Be Spared

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. --  The much maligned "Polar Vortex" will once again drop into the United States in the coming week, creating frigid conditions and likely some record-low temperatures and wind chills for this time of year.

Thankfully, Fairfield County should be spared from the worst of it, according to AccuWeather.

The arctic blast is expected to dip into the northern plains and Great Lakes regions beginning on Sunday and last until Friday. Some areas of the country could see temperatures dip into the single digits, AccuWeather reported.

AccuWeather meteorologists don't anticipate the strength of the Polar Vortex to push as far east as the I-95 corridor, sparing Westchester from most of the bitter cold. Experts did say, however that that much colder breezes could give the area a hint of winter for a few days.
