A Seymour man was accused of sexual assault by a Fairfield woman Monday. Raymond Charles Nilson, 48, a registered sex offender, is charged with making unwelcome advances on the Park Avenue resident while in her home to tune her piano on March 8, police reported.
While Nilson was doing his work he asked the woman to sit at the piano to check his work, the woman told police. When she did, he allegedly approached her from behind and began groping her. She also said that he pressed his entire body against her back, pinning her to the point that she could not move. The victim told police that she feared for her life until she was able to convince him to let go, and he soon left the home.
Police say Nilson has a history of sexual assault. He is still serving probation for an incident in 2001. Nilson was convicted of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in Bethany.
Nilson turned himself into Fairfield Police Monday afternoon. He was charged with sexual assault and unlawful restraint. He is being held on $175,000 bond. He was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for a probation violation in Woodbridge. For that charge, he was issued a $75,000 bond. He is due in court for all charges on March 24.
