FAIRFIELD, Conn. Former Olympic gold medalist and Fairfield County native Kristine Lilly will help the Fairfield Public Library close out its Olympic-themed kids summer reading program next week.
Lilly will talk about playing on the U.S. National Womens Soccer Team and hand out medals to kids in the program at the librarys closing ceremonies Aug. 10.
Lilly won three Olympic medals and two World Cup championships in her 21-year career with Team USA. Her 352 national team appearances is a record for both men and women in the sport.
After a talk about her career at the international and professional level, the Wilton native will hand out medals to the librarys Victorious Visitors.
As part of the librarys summer program, kids can collect stamps each time they visit the library. Kids can earn different medals as Victorious Visitors depending on the number of stamps they collect. Cards are still available at the childrens desk of the library, but cards must be turned in by 5 p.m. on Aug. 9 to qualify for a medal.
The closing ceremonies will take place from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 10, at the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road. The event is free, and no registration is required. For more information on the summer reading program, visit the librarys website.
