The latest statistics showing 203 new cases were announced late Tuesday afternoon, March 24 by Gov. Ned Lamont.
Lamont also said he was signing an executive order to extend the cancellation of classes at schools statewide to at least April 20.
"We need to make sure our schools are safe for students and staff, and we will continue consulting with health experts as this situation progresses," Lamont said.
Seven of the state's 12 COVID-19 deaths have happened in Fairfield County, with the others in Tolland County (three) and Hartford County (two).
The number of cases jumped by 114 in Fairfield County to 384, representing 62 percent of the state's cases.
Here's the rundown of cases by county:
- Fairfield County: 384 cases, 23 hospitalizations
- Hartford County: 88 cases, 17 hospitalizations
- Litchfield County: 22 cases, three hospitalizations
- Middlesex County: Eight cases, four hospitalizations
- New Haven County: 89 cases, 19 hospitalizations
- New London County: Six cases, one hospitalization
- Tolland County: 19 cases, four hospitalizations
- Windham County: Two cases
Total cases: 618
More than 5,300 have been tested for the virus statewide.
