NTSB Expected To Issue Preliminary Report On Fatal Train Crash Soon

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- The National Transportation Safety Board hopes to have a preliminary report on the Metro-North train wreck that killed six people, including one Danbury resident, in approximately two weeks, according to LoHud.com.

The National Transportation Safety Board is expected to release a preliminary report on the fatal Metro-North crash during the week of Feb. 23-27.

One of the areas the NTSB is investigating is the non-traditional third rail configuration. During the crash the third rail splintered and penetrated both the SUV stuck on the tracks and the first car of the train, LoHud.com reported.

The NTSB is not expected to comment on the crash until the preliminary report is released during the week of Feb. 23-27, LoHud.com said.
