Clouds will continue to increase on Monday with a high temperature in the mid 30s. Rain will move into the area after midnight with up to a quarter of an inch possible. The precipitation could change to a wintry mix of sleet and snow with temperatures dropping to about 30 degrees.
Rain is expected to be heavy at times on Tuesday with up to 2 inches possible. Temperatures will reach into the 40s with a strong northeast wind that could bring gusts of up to 44 mph. More wintry mix could fall overnight.
Due to the nor'easter, a Flood Watch is in effect for Fairfield County from 6 a.m. Tuesday until 1 a.m. Wednesday with the heavy rainfall expected.
A High Wind Watch is also in effect from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, with potentially damaging winds in the forecast. Winds of 25 to 35 mph are possible, with gusts of 55 to 65 mph. The winds could cause downed tree limbs and scattered power outages.
Wednesday will see more rain with a high temperature of about 43 degrees. Showers could change over to snow during the evening hours if the temperatures drop below freezing. The chance of evening precipitation is 50 percent with little or no accumulation.
Showers could linger Thursday before noon. Precipitation is expected to leave the area leaving mostly cloudy skies and a high near 40.
