FAIRFIELD, Conn. More car and garage burglaries were reported in the Stratfield section of Fairfield early Thursday morning. Four homeowners reported smashed windows on cars parked outside their homes overnight.
Two of the break-ins occurred on Wheeler Park Road and the others were reported on Wilson Street and Barnhill Road in the same area. In all four cases, the cars were left unlocked outside homes overnight with items left in view inside. Missing were a pair of Garmin GPS units, an iPod, an HP laptop, a brown wallet containing $300 cash, and a green North Face backpack.
At least 10 other break-ins occurred in the same neighborhood the day before. Fairfield Police followed a trail leading to five unlocked cars that were entered and searched early Wednesday morning. More burglaries from the same night with similar circumstances were reported later in the day.
Unlocked cars were entered on Westwood Road and Lockwood Road that night, with the burglars taking GPS units and garage-door openers. Garages were also entered on Brookview Avenue and Inwood Road sometime Wednesday morning. A gray Trek mountain bike was stolen from the Brookview home, and two other Trek bikes and a gas-powered scooter were missing from the Inwood house.
A Miro Street home was also burglarized Wednesday afternoon. The homeowner told police that the houses French doors were forced open sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Jewelry and computers were reported missing from the house.
Fairfield Police are not yet sure if all of the incidents are related. Anyone with information on any of the above incidents, or similar crimes, should contact police at 203-254-4800.
