Margaret Cardillo, 'Dog Whisperer'

Margaret Sheehan Cardillo, known to her family and friends as the “Dog Whisperer of Fairfield,” died last week at her home in Fairfield. She was 57.

Cardillo was born in New York City on March 30, 1953. She came to Fairfield to raise her sons, Michael, of Milford, and Andrew, of Fairfield. She was a fierce animal lover, and got her nickname by caring for her pets and those of her friends and family.

In her professional life, Carsillo was an accomplished personal assistant. She started her career working for cosmetics magnate Estee Lauder, and worked for several other companies before helping the Assistant Head of Greens Farms Academy for many years.

Along with Michael and Andrew, Margaret is survived by her sister, Nanci Christopher, of New York City; her brother, Michael Sheehan, and his wife, Denise, of New York City; a niece and many first cousins residing in the United States, Ireland, and England.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Dec.  4, at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Road, Fairfield. Interment will be private.
