Map Shows Hurricane Flood Risks in Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Do you know if your home is in the risk zone for flooding during a hurricane? With Hurricane Irene expected to make landfall this weekend, this map from the Army Corps of Engineers can help you find out. Take a look at our version above or see a more detailed map here.

On the map, areas shaded light green are at risk of flooding during a Category 1 hurricane. Areas shaded dark green are at risk of flooding during a Category 2 storm. Yellow shaded areas show inundation in a Category 3 hurricane, and the purple shaded areas show anticipated flooding in a Category 4 storm.

You can also use the map to find your nearest shelter. Fairfield’s official shelters are: Black Rock Congregational Church, Dwight Elementary School, Fairfield Fire Station No. 2 (600 Jennings Road), Fairfield Warde High School, Fairfield Ludlowe High School, Fairfield Woods Middle School, First Presbyterian Church, Holy Family Church and School, Notre Dame High School and St. Pius X Church and school.
