Man Charged With Taking iPods from Fairfield Home

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A Bridgeport man has been charged with stealing a MacPad laptop and two iPods from a home on Dalewood Avenue. Joseph K. Johnson, 25, of Grant Street was arrested Monday in connection with the burglary, which occurred in May. 

The homeowner told police he received a call before the burglary asking when he would be home. Investigators believe the call came from Johnson. Stamford Police also have an arrest warrant for Johnson for incidents in that city.

Johnson was charged with third-degree burglary and fifth-degree larceny. He was held on $1,500 bond and is due in court Dec. 5.

Timothy Coppola, 20, of Nepas Road in Fairifeld was charged with driving under the influence under the legal age after a rollover accident Monday night. Police found Coppola’s vehicle on the side of Hoydens Lane, unoccupied and lying on its roof. Coppola and another man were seen walking on the side of the road near the accident. They told police it was their car and they were walking to get help.

The officer smelled the strong odor of alcohol on Coppola’s breath, according to the police report. A bottle of whisky was found in the car. Coppola also failed a field sobriety test, police said.

He was charged with driving under the influence, failure to drive right and possession of alcohol by a minor. He was released on a $250 bond and is due in court Dec. 13.
