FAIRFIELD, Conn. A Bridgeport man was arrested after breaking into several cars in the Stratfield section of Fairfield Thursday night. Police say Giovanny Colon, 21, of Stratford Avenue, was seen breaking and entering vehicles parked on Fairfield Woods Road.
A man who fits Colons description was seen smashing the rear windows of cars parked along the road, police say. The suspect ran away when police arrived. The arresting officer stopped Colon at the Stratfield Mobil station. Colon had tools used in the burglaries, police say.
Colon was charged with four counts of burglary, three counts of criminal mischief, interfering with a police officer, possession of burglary tools and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was held on a $10,000 bond and is due in court on Aug. 1. Colon could not be reached for comment Friday.
Police Chief Gary MacNamera said police are still investigating the incident and other motor vehicle burglaries in the Stratfield area. Anyone whose car may have been broken into overnight should contact the Fairfield Police at 203-254-4800.
