Fairfield Police believe they finally got their man more than three years after the crime hes accused of committing. Roger Ryan, 58, of Grand Street in Bridgeport, was arrested on a warrant at Bridgeport Superior Court Wednesday morning in connection with a 2007 shoplifting incident.
Ryan walked into the CVS pharmacy on Black Rock Turnpike on Oct. 23, 2007, store security said, filled a basket with items, walked out without paying and got into a silver vehicle. Fairfield Police traced the car to a rental agency, which said it had loaned the car to a Michael Ryan, which was believed to be an alias. A CVS employee identified Ryan from a photo array, and the Fairfield Police issued a warrant for his arrest.
On Wednesday, Ryan appeared in court for charges from another town. Fairfields court officer saw in a database that Ryan was wanted in Fairfield and charged him with sixth-degree larceny. Bond was set at $5,000, and he appeared in court for the charge Wednesday.

A Fairfield University student was arrested on drug charges Wednesday after an investigation by school public safety officers. The security officers heard of another student having difficulty breathing. When they checked the student out, he told them he had recently smoked marijuana given to him by Nevin Zais, 19, of Sudbury, Mass. Officers said they found marijuana in his dorm room and turned him over to Fairfield Police.
Fairfield Police charged Zais with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. They released him on a promise to appear in court March 14.
