Joaquin Veers Eastward But Fairfield Will Still See Heavy Rain

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- The latest forecast models show hurricane Joaquin veering away from the east coast and heading out to sea, and while Fairfield County will be spared the worst of it, heavy rain and coastal flooding remains in the forecast, according to the National Weather Service.

Experts believe hurricane Joaquin will move off to sea, but it still could bring heavy rains to the region.

Clouds and rain will remain in the area on Friday with a high of 54 degrees. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent.

A coastal flood advisory is still in effect from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday for Southern Fairfield County and other areas along Long Island Sound.

Light rain and drizzle will continue on Saturday morning with a high near 52 and wind gusts up to 30 mph.

Light rain could linger on Sunday with a high near 59 degrees.

Conditions will begin to improve on Monday with partly sunny skies and a high in the mid-60s.
