FAIRFIELD, Conn. Burglars swiped an estimated $150,000 in jewelry from a Fairfield Woods Road home Monday afternoon, police reported. The homeowner told police that the burglary occurred sometime between 1:30 and 3:45 p.m. The resident returned home to find jewelry boxes overturned on the bed, drawers ransacked and the items missing. There was no sign of forced entry. Fairfield Police are investigating.

? Two businesses on Kings Highway East showed signs of break-in attempts overnight Tuesday. Police say that Giant Steps, a toy store, and The Wine Rack, a liquor store, had pry marks on their front doors with yellow markings. The suspects were not able to get inside either store. Police believe other businesses may have been hit.
? Craig Summers, 18, of Bridgeport was charged with the theft of a bicycle from Whole Foods Monday afternoon. A witness called police saying that Summers and three other young men were riding bicycles down Commerce Drive and towing a fifth bike. Police stopped the group and determined that the fifth bike, valued at $150, had been stolen from the grocery store earlier. Summers was released on a promise to appear in court on Sept. 6.
