FAIRFIELD, Conn. Friday afternoon's thunderstorm has knocked out power for 2,220 homes and businesses in Fairfield, according to United Illuminating. The outages account for more than 10 percent of the town.
United Illuminating's Storm Tracker attributes the outages to three problems clustered near Fairfield University. Two sets of downed wires account for all but one of the outages, the company reports.
