FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – Fairfield County residents can expect heavy rain and thunderstorms to kick off the weekend on Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

Showers and possibly a thunderstorm will come through the area during the day, with some storms producing heavy rain. High near 80. Chance of rain is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts could be between three quarters and 1 inch.

There is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight, with mostly cloudy skies and a low around 62. Chance of rain is 30 percent.

Saturday will be sunny with a high near 82.
