Gas Prices Slowly Dropping Across CT, But Still Higher Than A Year Ago

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — The average price of a gallon of gasoline in Connecticut is just a penny cheaper than last week — and down 11 cents last week, according to AAA.

But compared to last year, Connecticut prices are 38 cents higher. Nationally, the average price is 24 cents higher.

The national average price at the pump has fallen for 15 of the last 20 days, for a total savings of 7 cents per gallon.

Here are AAA’s weekly survey of prices in Connecticut’s four regions, with the highest prices, as always, in Fairfield County:

  • Greater Bridgeport/Stamford $2.79 
  •  New Haven/Meriden $2.68
  • Greater Hartford $2.68 
  •  New London/Norwich $2.66
  • Statewide Average: $2.71

Arkansas and Missouri have the lowest average price in the nation, with both at $2.20. Hawaii at $3.11 and California at $3.03 continue to rank as the states with the highest average. 

Connecticut holds steady at seventh place on the list of states with the highest gas price averages.
