FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – June 1 marks the first day of hurricane season, 10 years after the busiest season for U.S. coasts in its recorded history, reports NPR.

In 2005, the U.S. experienced 28 named storms, with 15 of them hurricanes, including the most devastating – Hurricane Katrina, according to the report.

Meteorologists report that with an El Niño in place, this year should be a quiet season for hurricanes, according to NPR.
