Fire officials were called to the home around 6:18 a.m. There they found a large tree had done significant structural damage to the house.
Emergency personnel removed the woman and treated her injuries before transporting her to a local hospital.
“While there were injuries and significant damage to the home, this situation could have been much worse,” said Assistant Chief Schulyer Sherwood.
The incident followed a busy 24 hours for the fire department, Sherwood said.
Around 2 p.m. on Wednesday, the department responded to a construction worker who had fallen about 20 feet from a ladder on Osborne Lane. Workers found the man on the ground with serious injuries.
He was treated on the scene and transported to the hospital.
Later Wednesday evening, fire personnel were dispatched to the Regional Fire Training Center, where an Ansonia volunteer firefighter was having a life-threatening medical emergency.
The patient was transported to the hospital with assistance from the fire department.
