A Fairfield woman had more than a hangover to worry about Thursday morning. Carolyn Danieli, 55, of Hoydens Hill Road, faces two DUI charges and a handful of others after her arrest in Fairfield Wednesday night.
Fairfield Police received a call about a reckless driver on Black Rock Turnpike Wednesday. They found Danieli heading north, swerving between the two northbound lanes and onto the shoulder. They also saw her cross the center line into traffic as she turned from Black Rock Turnpike onto Congress Street. Police flashed their lights and turned on their sirens to get her to pull over, but she continued until she reached the driveway of her home, driving over a stone wall and into the stairs on her back deck.
After Danieli failed a series of field sobriety tests, police took her to headquarters, where she failed a breathalyzer test. They also discovered she had a warrant for her arrest from a similar incident in October.
On Oct. 13, Danielis car collided with the guardrail as she turned from Black Rock Turnpike onto Congress. At the time, she was sent to St. Vincents Hospital for treatment. Police investigated her medical records and found she was over the legal limit at the time.
For Wednesdays incident, police charged Danieli with driving under the influence, failure to drive right, failure to give proper signal and reckless driving. For the October incident, they charged her with DUI, evading responsibility, reckless driving, failure to obey traffic control and failure to drive right. She was held on bonds totaling $5,500 and is due in court Dec. 20.

Police are investigating a burglary on South Pine Creek Road in which thousands of dollars worth of property was stolen. A Fairfield resident called Wednesday afternoon to report that her brothers home was burglarized between Monday morning and Wednesday afternoon while her brother was on vacation. Police found signs of forced entry, and every room of the home had been ransacked.
The homeowner reported the following missing items: a 52-inch flat-screen TV valued at $1,500, a 40-inch flat-screen TV worth $1,019, two Canon digital cameras and various lenses valued at a total of $2,500, and two Cartier watches. Anyone with information should contact Fairfield Police.
