The soaking rains, expected to strike late Tuesday into Wednesday, are likely to impact much of the tri-state area.

Elsewhere, cities as far south as Raleigh, N.C., and as far west as Chicago will be affected.

Locally, a pressure system will bring sunny skies on Monday and Tuesday before the rain moves into Fairfield County on Wednesday.

Temperatures will be in the upper 50s and low 60s, even as the remains of the tropical storm move in.

Though some flooding is possible Wednesday as a result of the storm system, forecasters said a bigger problem may be experienced on the roads, where slick surfaces will be made more dangerous by the falling leaves of autumn, according to the report.
