FAIRFIELD, Conn. One month from today we will commemorate the 10th anniversary of one of the most traumatic events of our lifetimes: the terror attacks of Sept. 11. The Daily Fairfield is looking for stories about Sept. 11 and how we, as a nation suffered, reacted and came to grips with the terror attacks in which more than 3,000 people died.
Where we you on Sept. 11? Where were you when you heard about the attacks? What is the first thing you did? We are collecting responses for our ongoing coverage of the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11. Heres my own recollection, to get the conversation started:
I was heading into homeroom. Guys were whispering that the towers were hit, but I thought it was one of those outlandish rumors that can pass through Fairfield Prep's halls. Then the morning announcements came on, and they herded us into the hallway to hear them. (The speaker in the classroom was broken.) Then it was real. The rest of the day was nothing but discussions about what had just happened. It's still the most surreal day of my life.
Send your responses to gcanuel@thedailyfairfield.com, or post them to the discussion on our Facebook page.
