FAIRFIELD, Conn. A 57-year-old Fairfield man was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after he was hit by a car at the intersection of Villa Avenue and Tunxis Hill Road in Fairfield Wednesday afternoon.
The driver of the vehicle, a 67-year-old Bridgeport woman, was attempting to make a left turn onto Villa. She told police that an oncoming driver waved her on, and she looked away from the intersection to offer thanks.
The Fairfield man was crossing Villa Avenue at the same time, with the protection of the red light. The driver did not see him and collided with the walker, causing minor injuries.
The pedestrian was taken to St. Vincents Hospital for treatment. The driver was issued a written warning for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
