Fairfield Picks Its Leaders Tuesday

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The big day for dozens of Fairfield candidates is here: Election Day. Fairfielders will decide on their next first selectman and the makeup of seven other boards and commissions Tuesday. Here’s what you need to know:

The biggest race this year is for Fairfield’s first selectman. Democratic Interim First Selectman Michael Tetreau is running for re-election. Republican Robert Bellitto Jr. and Independent Hugh Dolan are challenging him for the four-year term.

Spots on the Board of Selectmen, the Board of Finance, Board of Education, the Representative Town Meeting, the Board of Assessment Appeals, the Town Plan and Zoning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals, as well as Fairfield’s town clerk and constable positions, are also up for re-election Tuesday.

Polling places are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Voting locations are arranged by Representative Town Meeting district. If you’re not sure where to go to vote, the registrars of voters have a street-by-street guide available on their website. You can also call the registrars’ office at 203-256-3115 to ask. Here are the polling places for each district:

• District 1: Fairfield Senior Center, 100 Mona Terrace

• District 2: St. Pius X School, 824 Brookside Drive

• District 3: Dwight Elementary School, 1600 Redding Road

• District 4: Osborn Hill School, 760 Stillson Road

• District 5: McKinley School, 60 Thompson St.

• District 6: Fairfield Warde High School, 755 Melville Ave.

• District 7: North Stratfield School, 190 Putting Green Road

• District 8: Holland Hill School, 200 Meadowcroft Road

• District 9: Fairfield Ludlowe High School, 785 Unquowa Road

• District 10: Sherman Elementary School, 250 Fern St.
