Fairfield Names Its Candidates This Week

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — All of Fairfield’s voters get to pick the town’s leaders in November. But this week members of the town’s Republican and Democratic parties get to pick the candidates.

Republicans make their decision Tuesday at the polls. The party’s caucus is open from noon to 8 p.m. at all normal polling places. Registered Republicans will choose whether Board of Finance member Robert Bellitto Jr., Representative Town Meeting Member David Becker or firefighter Hugh Dolan will run against Interim First Selectman Michael Tetreau for the office of First Selectman. Republicans will also pick nominees for the Board of Finance, the Board of Education and their district’s five members of the Representative Town Meeting.

Democrats pick their candidates Thursday. The Democratic Town Committee’s nominating convention will be held at the Board of Education conference room (501 Kings Highway E., second floor) from 7 to 10 p.m. The party will name its nominees for Board of Finance,  Board of Education and the RTM.
