FAIRFIELD, Conn. A Fairfield man was charged Tuesday night with drug possession at Lake Mohegan. Benjamin Massey, 25, of Knapps Highway, was accused of smoking prescription painkillers in the open spaces parking lot, police say.
Massey was inside his parked car in the lot after sundown, which is the areas posted closing time. A Fairfield police officer stopped to interview him, and smelled a then-unidentified burning, according to the police report. Massey admitted that the smell was because he had just smoked roxy, police say.
Officers found a container with two tablets of oxycodone, a prescription painkiller in the cars center console. A smoking device made out of tinfoil and plastic tubes was also found under the drivers seat, police say.
Massey was charged with possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia and failure to keep prescription drugs in their proper container. He was released on a promise to appear in court on May 8.
