The meeting will have a panel from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection to discuss how the to protect their investments along the coast.
The meeting is an open house in which residents, business owners and local organizations can stop in at any point during the 5 to 8 p.m. time period. Staff from FEMA and the CTDEEP will be available to answer questions and provide a short presentation.
“I encourage residents to attend this meeting to view the new maps and understand the changes that are taking place to flood insurance rates,” First Selectman Michael Tetreau said in a statement.
Here are the upcoming meetings, which any resident can attend, about the coastal map change and flood insurance:
- Thursday, Aug. 8: CTDEEP Marine Headquarters, 333 Ferry Road, Old Lyme
- Tuesday, Aug. 20: Cafeteria at Fairfield Ludlowe High School, 785 Unquowa Road
- Tuesday, Aug. 27: Town of Branford, Fire Department, 45 N. Main St., Branford
All meetings will be from 5 to 8 p.m.
Connecticut’s coastal communities received updated coastal flood insurance rate map (FIRM) panels in 2013. Anyone wishing to view the panels or obtain a copy may contact the Town’s Plan and Zoning Department, located at Fairfield Town Hall.
