Fairfield Cops Accuse Son Of Shoplifting With Dad

The younger half of what Fairfield Police say is a father-son shoplifting team was arrested Monday afternoon. Harry Banks III, 34, of West Haven, was brought in on a warrant from Waterbury Police Headquarters for allegedly making multiple attempts to steal from BJ’s stores in Fairfield and Orange. His father, also named Harry Banks, was arrested for his role in the case last month.

The younger Banks allegedly walked into BJ’s on Black Rock Turnpike on April 16, 2010, and placed a sweater and 68 boxes of razor blades into a cart. He then attempted to walk out the back door, before a customer spotted him and notified an employee. BJ’s security said he then fled the scene. On Oct. 24, store security called police to report that a pair of black males, one of whom they now believe to be Banks III, stole packages of razors, then got into a gray Nissan Altima and drove away.

The older Banks was arrested March 17 for allegedly driving the getaway car. Banks III was charged Monday with fourth-degree larceny, attempted fourth-degree larceny and conspiracy. He was released on a promise to appear in court, and turned over to Orange Police to face charges for shoplifting cases in that town. He is due in court April 11.
