Ex-UConn Student In Mac-And-Cheese Tantrum Receives Probation

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Luke Vincent Gatti, a former University of Connecticut freshman accused of going on a drunken, profanity-laced tirade about jalapeno-bacon macaroni and cheese at the Storrs campus, was given accelerated rehabilitation on Monday, according to NBC Connecticut.

Accelerated rehabilitation is a form of probation that means the case will be erased from Gatti's record if he avoids any legal trouble and complies with random drug tests.

Gatti, who is 19, was originally charged with misdemeanor breach of peace and trespassing.

Gatti, of Bayville, N.Y., was arrested after an Oct. 4 outburst in the student union and accused of ranting at and shoving a university food-service supervisor who had refused to sell him jalapeno-bacon macaroni and cheese because Gatti was drinking in the Union Street Market dining facility.

The former student later issued an apology to the staff via video, students and his friends and family.
