FAIRFIELD, Conn. A Bridgeport woman was charged with driving under the influence after she allegedly struck a pedestrian with her car Friday evening. The arrest was the womans second for DUI in Fairfield in the past two months, police say.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Tunxis Hill Road and Villa Avenue just before 8 p.m. Friday. Several witnesses told police the driver of a car struck a pedestrian crossing the road. When officers arrived, the pedestrian was being treated by a doctor who witnessed the incident. He was taken to St. Vincents Hospital for treatment for his injuries.
The driver, Kristin Osterberg, had an odor of alcohol on her breath at the scene, police say. She failed field sobriety tests at the scene and also failed a breath test at police headquarters, according to police reports. Osterberg, 34, of Fox Street in Bridgeport, was charged with driving under the influence and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
Osterberg was charged with DUI for an accident on the Post Road in Fairfield on Feb. 10. On that afternoon she rear-ended another car stopped near the Brick Walk shopping center, according to the arrest report.
