Donate Your Old Fans To Fairfield's Seniors

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- It’s important to remember Fairfield’s senior citizens as temperatures climb. The Centers for Disease control recommend checking regularly on elderly people in your family and in your neighborhood, as they’re at a higher risk for heat stroke and similar ailments. And this week, Chief Gary MacNamera and the Fairfield Police Department are asking for help making sure the town’s seniors have access to cooling air.

The Fairfield Police are organizing a fan collection drive this week along with People’s United Bank. Residents can join the “Fan Club” and bring used fans to any People’s branch in Fairfield from now until Friday. People’s banks are located at 411 Old Post Road, 1940 Black Rock Turnpike, 1055 Post Road and 1237 Stratfield Road.

The local branch of the Police Explorers will clean them and hand them out to those who need them at the Fairfield Police Headquarters (100 Reef Road) this Saturday, July 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, contact Sgt. Suzanne Lussier at 203-254-4829 or slussier@town.fairfield.ct.us.
