The town of Fairfield was stunned when a man was shot and killed by a police officer in a confrontation after a domestic violence incident at his home on Mountain Laurel Road on Tuesday morning. The man's 15-year-old son managed to wrestle a baseball bat from his father’s hands in the attack as his injured 13-year-old sister ran from their house and called 911. The wife and a 12-year-old son remained hospitalized with stabbing and blunt-force trauma injuries. The Fairfield Police Department on Wednesday identified Sean Fenton, a decorated 25-year veteran of the force, as the officer who fatally shot the father, Christopher Andrews, 51, when he refused to drop his knife. Fairfield First Selectman Michael Tetreau said the town was shocked by the tragedy, but a planned candlelight community vigil was canceled at the family's request.
