Brian Herndon, 45, of New Britain, pleaded guilty in New Haven federal court to one count of possession of child pornography and admitted to violating the terms of his release after he was previously arrested for possessing child porn.
U.S. Attorney for Connecticut John Durham said that on Jan. 12, 2009, Herndon was sentenced in New Haven federal court to 72 months of imprisonment, followed by five years of supervised release, for possessing child pornography.
He was released from federal prison in May 2014. On Sept. 1, 2015, U.S. Probation officers searched Herndon’s residence and seized a laptop. A subsequent forensic examination of the laptop revealed approximately 2,269 images and 74 videos of child pornography.
Herndon will be sentenced in Hartford on Feb. 24 next year, at which point he will face up to 20 years in prison and an additional two years for violating the conditions of his release. Herndon remains released on bond and will be under court supervision until his sentencing.
