Crash Of Two Tractor-Trailers Jams Traffic On I-95 South In Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Interstate 95 was jammed southbound Thursday morning because of an accident involving two tractor-trailers between Exits 19 and 18 near the Fairfield-Westport border, the Connecticut Department of Transportation reported.

The left and center lanes were reported closed in the area after the crash at about 8:55 a.m. Thursday, DOT said.

As of 9:15 a.m., traffic was backed up nearly 3 miles to Exit 23 because of the crash and the lane closures, DOT said.  

It was not known how long it would take to clear the accident scene.
