Cops Track Suspects in 5 Fairfield Car Burglaries

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield Police tracked a pair of suspects in five car burglaries through the Stratfield neighborhood early Wednesday morning. K-9 Officer Ruger followed the trail before losing the suspects.

The first burglary was reported on Church Hill Road at about 2:30 a.m. The homeowner told police he heard his garage door opening and went outside to investigate. He said the garage door was closing when he arrived and two men ran out and took off down the street. The man described the suspects as short and wearing dark clothing.

The homeowner said the men had entered an unlocked car parked in his driveway. The only thing missing was the garage door opener. Ruger tracked the suspects’ scent from the home to two cars on Winwood Road, and to others parked in driveways on Lockwood Road and London Terrace. The trail ended on Church Hill Road, where police believe the suspects got into a car and left.

The only item stolen from the five cars was a Bluetooth headset valued at $70 and garage door openers. All five cars were left unlocked in their owners’ driveways. Fairfield Police advise residents to lock their cars' doors when leaving them unattended.
