Cops to Hold Senior Abuse Seminar

An elderly person becomes the victim of abuse in the United States every 2.7 minutes, according to the National Center for Elder Abuse. Whether it's physical, emotional or financial harm, senior citizens are exposed to dangers every day. To help educate the public on these issues, the Fairfield Police and Connecticut's Triad program will hold a daylong seminar Friday, Sept. 17. Attorney General Richard Blumenthal; elder abuse specialist Elizabeth Lowry; and other experts will offer advice on how to help.

The seminar will run from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fairfield University's Dolan School of Business. Space is limited. The event's organizers suggest advance registration. To register or for more information, contact the Southwestern Connecticut Agency on Aging at dbraychak@swcaa.org.
