Connecticut’s adult obesity rate is 25.6 percent and 13 states have adult obesity rates above 30 percent, 41 states have rates of at least 25 percent, and every state is above 20 percent, according to the report. The state's obesity rate is 27.2 percent for men and 24 percent for women.

A new report released by the national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention earlier in August shows 18 states and one U.S. territory experienced a decline in obesity rates among preschool children from low-income families.

Neighboring states New Jersey, New York and Massachusetts ranked third, fourth and seventh least obese, respectively.
