FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Explosions at the Boston Marathon killed three, injured dozens and dominated the news this week. Here are a few of the top stories from Fairfield this week:

? Many Fairfield runners took part in the Boston Marathon, but none were harmed in the explosions near the finish line. The investigation continued through the week, and then on Thursday Boston Police and the FBI identified two suspects. On Friday, law enforcement believed a third suspect may have gotten on a train into Connecticut, stalling Metro-North trains and creating lengthy delays. 

? In business news, Fairfield’s Mike DiStassio prepared to launch his new food cart, The Local Meatball. Look out for his Smart car and cart at Fairfield events this summer.

? Both the Pequot Library and the Fairfield Senior Center filed official appeals to have their funding restored by the Representative Town Meeting. Both will have their cases heard Monday night.

? It was an unusually busy week for vandalism in Fairfield this week. Police received reports of many slashed tires in the Stratfield and Tunxis Hill areas over the weekend. Later in the week, mailboxes in the Greenfield Hill neighborhood were the popular targets.
