Carol Cardillo, 53, is facing charges of second-degree manslaughter, reckless endangerment and risk of injury to a minor after police say she gave Benadryl to the Shelton boy in March 2016. Police responded to the Edgewood Road daycare on March 22 on a report of an unresponsive infant. The baby, Adam Gregory Vasaturo Seagull, was transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, where he was pronounced deceased.

Appearing in court on Tuesday, Cardillo was granted a continuance until June 20 to allow her lawyers to continue talking with independent medical experts who are examining the case, the Connecticut Post reported.
Cardillo, who ran an unlicensed daycare out of her home for 11 years, initially denied giving Benadryl to the baby, according to police, saying she had given him a bottle and put him down for a nap. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that he had Benadryl in his system, which should not be given to a baby under 2.
The Connecticut Post reported that court records show Cardillo had purchased Benadryl before the baby died.
