Bensey was born in Southport, she was a lifelong Fairfield resident. She graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School and was a former employee of Sturm Ruger & Co. She served her church, Holy Family of Fairfield, as a eucharistic minister, and as a member of the liturgical committee and Rosary Guild.
Bensey is survived by her husband, Donald; daughters, Lynn (John) Gadacy, Donna (Michael) Harkins, Mary (Vincent) Calzone, Janet Fable and fiancé John Leifels, Ann (James) Pleszko Jr., and Brenda (Christian) Andro; sons, Donald Bensey, Jr., Brian Bensey, John, Glenn and Michael Bensey; 18 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; brothers, Thomas and Joseph Matis; and sister, Helen Matis. She was predeceased by sister, Florence Kaczegowicz; and brothers, George, John and Walter Matis.
Calling hours will be on Monday evening from 4 to 7 pm at the Fairfield Funeral Home of Edmund W. Dougiello, 36 South Pine Creek Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, July 9 at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church in Fairfield followed by interment in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield.
