Holmes will be the keynote speaker of the Rose of Hope Luncheon, held annually at the Greenfield Hill of Patti and Tom Keegan. The fundraiser attracts more than 500 people each year and helps raise money for the Pfriem Center’s programs.
Holmes has appeared in dozens of movies and TV series, including “Batman Begins,” “Dawson’s Creek” and most recently “The Kennedys.” She is also the co-founder of the Dizzy Feet Foundation, which sponsors dance education for low-income children.
“We’re so excited to have Katie at this year’s luncheon, helping to us to get the message out about breast cancer screening and early detection,”Pfriem Center Executive Director Donna Twist said in a press release. “She’s a talented woman with a successful career and busy family life who makes time to help others."
The Norma F. Pfriem Breast Cancer Center is a division of Bridgeport Hospital and also has an outpost located on Beach Road in Fairfield. It provides breast cancer screenings and treatments to women around the area.
The money raised from the Rose of Hope luncheon goes to benefit its outreach and education programs, as well as the Medically Underserved Initiative, which offers financial aid to uninsured or underinsured women for breast cancer screenings and treatments.
