2 Busted in Fairfield Drug Raid

State Police arrested two New York men and confiscated 4,000 bags of heroin in Fairfield over the weekend, according to a press release. Police also found two cars and $575 in cash related to the drugs. The arrests occurred at the Fairfield Rest Stop on Interstate 95.

Arturo Diaz, 47, was held in lieu of $1 million bond and Irving Colon, 40, on $500,000 bond. They are charged with heroin possession and intent to sell. Other charges include possession of narcotics and intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school, interfering with a police officer, criminal attempt to commit sale of narcotics and conspiracy charges.

According to police, the two men met at the rest area in a Nissan and a pickup truck. Diaz was spooked by nearby police activity and started to leave. Police observed this and the task force moved in, blocking both cars. They then discovered the cash and drugs and arrested both men.

State police did not wish to release information on the location of the arrest until the investigation is completed. The investigation and arrests were led by the State Police Statewide Narcotics Task Force and South Central Field offices.
