13 Metro-North Conductors, Engineers Indicted In Cheating Scandal

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Thirteen current and former Metro-North employees were indicted on charges of cheating on government licensing exams, including four employees who live in Connecticut, according to NBC Connecticut.

All of the workers were indicted on felony charges of impairing the integrity of a government licensing examination when they allegedly emailed multiple versions of Metro-North safety test to other candidates, NBC Connecticut said.

Candidates are required to pass the safety exams before he or she can become licensed engineers and train conductors, NBC Connecticut reported.

“The scale and scope of these revelations are sweeping and shocking—yet another searing indictment of Metro-North’s safety training programs and procedures," Sen. Richard Blumenthal said in a statement. "Metro-North owes the public a better explanation to this apparent serious criminal conduct, and I will call for congressional hearings to compel them to do so."
