FAIRFIELD, Conn. Victoria Rasta Bileca, 86, of Fairfield, died Tuesday, April 3.
Born and raised in Woonsocket, R.I., she was the daughter of the late Dimitrie and Anastasia Balamaci Rasta. Bileca lived in Fairfield for nearly 40 years and worked for Harvey Hubbell Company until her retirement. She was married to the late John Bileca.
Bileca was a longtime member of St. Dimitrie Romanian Orthodox Church and served as the first woman president of the church council. She was also a former president of the ladies auxiliary, treasurer of the church council, member of the St. Dimitrie Retirees and a volunteer for all church functions.
Famous for her koularakia cookies, Bileca enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing. She was said by family to accept people for who they were and see life through the maxim of what will be, will be.
Bileca is survived by her son, James Bileca; her daughter, Karen (Richard) Scinto, all of Fairfield; her brother, Virgil Rasta of Woonsocket and two grandchildren. She was predeceased by her infant daughter, Maria, her brothers, Vinson, Christy and Victor Rasta, and her sister, Louisa Cheamitru.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday at St. Dimitrie Romanian Orthodox Church in Easton, with burial to follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Bridgeport. Arrangements are being handled by the Lesko and Polke Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Dimitrie Church.
