Teens To Get Safe Driving Tips in Fairfield Sunday

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Before you let your teen driver out on Fairfield’s roads, it’s important to make sure they know to avoid unsafe habits. That’s why Rabbi Shlame Landa and Chabad of Fairfield’s CTeen group will host a special program, “Get Behind the Wheel,” to reinforce good techniques in a fun way this Sunday.

“The core of the dangerous driving issue is essentially the careless attitude expressed in all areas of a person’s life,” Landa said in a press release. “Taking charge and initiating awareness at school, at home, and in the community will automatically invigorate the teens with confidence to keep their eyes on the road ahead and ignore the ‘back seat drivers’, peer and social pressure, in both a literal sense and in choosing their future paths.”

The teens who attend Sunday’s event will decorate bumper stickers and cupcakes with safe driving slogans. They’ll also try to make their way through an obstacle course while texting to see the challenge without taking the risk. In the end, Landa said, he hopes his students will avoid using phones, applying makeup, listening to loud music and other unsafe practices.

The program takes place Sunday, Nov. 20 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Chabad of Fairifeld, 36 Wynn Wood Drive. For more information, visit the CTeen website, e-mail teens@chabadff.com, or call 203-373-1118.
