Stevens didn’t always plan on landing where she is today - a sales associate at Coldwell Banker.

“I studied political science" at Fairfield University, she said. “I was planning on going to law school.”

And despite diverging from her undergraduate studies, Stevens enjoys the accomplishments in her successful life.

Born in Bridgeport and raised in the city’s Black Rock neighborhood, the Southport resident attended Fairfield University as the first female student to receive a full athletic scholarship.

In her four years at the local Jesuit university, Stevens built a basketball career on rebounds, making the all-time Top 20 lists for both rebounds and rebounds-per-game. Stevens’ success on the court lead to a seven-year career in broadcasting for her alma mater, another small step toward a career she says she loves.

“The most satisfying part of my job is helping young families find their dream home in Westport and Fairfield,” said Stevens.

As a longtime member of the Southport community -- she and her family have lived in their current residence for the past 23 years -- Stevens is knowledgeable about the communities in which she works.

“A lot of my clients are from out of state,” she said. “So I enjoy educating them and showing them the attractions and amenities that each town has to offer.”

With her office located in downtown Westport, Stevens said Main Street is one of her favorite parts of town because it is the epicenter of community activities, whether it’s shopping, dining or catching a show at the playhouse.

And although her schedule is busy, she finds time to volunteer in the community, such as coaching basketball at the Boys & Girls Club or serving on the board of directors at the Cardinal Shehan Center.
