State Honors Fairfield Tree Volunteers

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield Forestry Committee and its chair, Misty Beyer, received awards last week from the Connecticut Urban Forest Council for their work to protect Fairfield’s trees. The state group honored Fairfield’s committee as the 2011 Outstanding Urban Forestry Volunteer Group. Its leader, Beyer, is the year’s Urban Forestry Volunteer.

The Fairfield Forestry Committee is a volunteer group stated by the town in 2006. Its job is to help Tree Warden Ken Placko maintain town-owned trees by bringing in interested members of the community.
