Send Us Your Flag Day Photos, Fairfield!

Are you flying your flag today? June 14 is Flag Day, the holiday dedicated to the Stars and Stripes in the United States. Homes and businesses around Fairfield are flying the red, white and blue in celebration. We at TheDailyFairfield want to see how you’re honoring the holiday. Send in your photos to gcanuel@thedailyfairfield.com if you’ve found any interesting uses of the classic design.

But with Tuesday’s forecast calling for rain, is it proper to leave your flag outside? That depends on what type of flag you own. According to the U.S. Flag Code, the official guidelines for displaying Old Glory, “The flag should not be displayed on days when the weather is inclement, except when an all weather flag is displayed.” That means if your Star Spangled Banner is synthetic, it’s fine to fly Tuesday. If not, technically it should be taken inside when the water begins to fall.
