FAIRFIELD, Conn. Did you know that July is National Ice Cream Month? President Ronald Reagan convinced Congress to adopt the month-long celebration in 1984. But with so many options in Fairfield, where should you go to honor the month? We asked the ultimate expertsTheDailyFairfields readers.
We happened to find the Farnan brothers, Jimmy, Jack and Michael, and their friend Ryan Lutinski at their top choiceSunny Daes on Black Rock Turnpike. Though the boys are Easton residents, they still declared the Fairfield mini-chain as their favorite.
Thats why they stopped by after Jimmy and Ryan faced a tough loss to Fairfield National in the 11-and-under Little League tournament. Its got lots of choices, and good service, said Michael.
The quartet of Eastonites are not alone. At least two of our social media followers professed their appreciation for Sunny Daes. Patti Goodman Dyer said via Facebook, For sure sunny daes! Jennifer Hochberg shared those sentiments over Twitter.
Fave place to get ice cream in #Fairfield is Sunny Daes! Hochberg tweeted. Moose Tracks rules...plus their gelato is delish!
Not everyone agreed. Cathy Lindsay Jones said her pick was Gofer Ice Cream in the Brick Walk on the Post Road. And Lisa Woods Czismar took exception as well, posting, I hate sunny daes, rather have Dairy Queen.
A few of our followers decided that for their choice they needed to step outside of Fairfields bounds. Tara Belcher posted to our Facebook page, not Fairfield, but close - Timothy's in Black Rock. Caraly Benak chimed in with support for the Fairfield Avenue shops homemade ice cream. I agree with Tara...Timothy's is the best!
