Reader Photos Show More Damage in Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – As many as 15 trees were still blocking Fairfield roads Wednesday afternoon, three days after Irene blew through town. So it’s no surprise that our readers were still finding downed branches to photograph and send to us. Here are two more we received recently.

The first, from Jim Burggraf, shows a large tree spanning Ferncliff Road. As Burggraf told us, “The tree falling on the lines sheered the telephone pole in half.” The second is another shot of the large section of a tree that crashed into the E. Thorpe House, which has stood in Southport since 1792. Russell Sodaro sent in his shot of the damage. Thanks, Jim and Russell!
